We all watch TV shows and movies about crime and forensics. Come learn the difference between fiction and reality in a fun, hands-on class. In addition to lecture, films and guest speakers, students participate in exercises including fingerprinting, photography, shoeprint casting, tool mark identification, crime scene sketching and evidence collection.
Don’t miss out; enrollment is limited! Your ROP Counselor has been provided with a PowerPoint presentation with audio voiceover about the class or you can contact the instructor at gbale@capolagrop.org and he will email the presentation to you to view at your convenience.

Gary Bale's law enforcement career started with the Washoe County Sheriff's Office [WCSO] in Reno, Nevada in 1972 where he was a reserve and a full time deputy. After six years with WCSO he left to join the Orange County Sheriff's Department [OCSD] in Santa Ana, California. He retired in 2008 from OCSD after over 29 years, the last 24 as an investigator. His detective assignments included juvenile bureau, fraud and homicide. He has taught continuously at the Sheriff's regional academy since 1986 and has taught CSI for ROP since 2005. When he retired from OC Sheriff he joined the Sheriff's reserve bureau where he is assigned to the reserve training unit. His purpose in teaching the Crime Scene investigation course is to both help prepare those students who seek Law Enforcement careers and to educate others about the myths of fictional CSI versus the reality, thus helping students to at least be better jurors and better informed citizens.
